30 Seconds to Mars is a rock band that was formed in 1998 by brothers Jared and Shannon Leto. Jared is perhaps the most recognizable member as he is well-regarded Hollywood actor. However, the band’s music has not suffered in the shadows of the lead-vocalist and rhythm guitarist. They were much of garage band only playing at small venues until 2002 when they released their self-titled debut album “30 Seconds to Mars.” That album spawned hit songs like, ‘Capricorn (A Beautiful Name)’ and ‘Edge of the Earth’. Capricorn managed to reach the rock charts, peaking at 31. Devoted fans, however, feel these two offerings did not display the depth and range of the group.
In 2005, the group released “A Beautiful Lie” to rave reviews. It has nine tracks on the album and a hidden track ‘A Modern Myth’. This album included the songs: ‘The Kill’, ‘A Beautiful Lie’, ‘From Yesterday’, and ‘Attack’.
In 2009, 30 Seconds to Mars, amidst a lot of controversy from their record label Virgin Records, managed to release their third studio album, “This is War.” Popular songs from this album include, ‘Night of the Hunter,’ ‘Kings and Queens,’ ‘This is War’, and ‘Closer to the Edge.’
The group is currently working on their fourth studio album.
